UK minister challenged over Murdoch's Sky deal, (BSY), (NASDAQ: NWSA)

The British minister overseeing a proposed controversial buyout of BSkyB (BSY.L) by Rupert's Murdoch's News Corp (NWSA.O) dismissed concerns about his neutrality as opposition to the deal grew. Jeremy Hunt, handed the high-profile takeover bid after another government minister was secretly taped "declaring war" on Murdoch, was forced to defend his independence on Wednesday evening when protesters interrupted an event he was appearing at in London. Hunt and his Conservative party have been accused by some critics of being too close to Murdoch and the minister said on Wednesday he would take his time before making a decision on whether to refer the bid for a further examination. "It is a very, very hot potato and I'm aware of what happens when you hold a hot potato in your hands for too long," he said, adding he could not comment any further on the deal or the timing of any announcement.
