BP's Canada gas liquids unit seen fetching C$2.3 bln, (BP), (NYSE: APA)

BP Plc's (BP.L) Canadian gas liquids business, which it put on the block last year as part of a slate of global asset sales, could be worth C$2.3 billion ($2.35 billion) and domestic companies are likely bidders, an analyst said on Tuesday. The assets, comprising fractionation plants, pipelines and storage facilities from Alberta to southern Ontario, could be split up between a handful of companies in the so-called midstream business, FirstEnergy Capital Corp analyst Steven Paget said. In a research report, Paget said Canadian players would likely need to issue more than C$1 billion in equity to buy the assets, whose sale would follow the $7 billion divestiture of BP's Canadian gas production business to Apache Corp (APA.N) last year.
