Internet-connected device sector deals accelerating, report finds, (NASDAQ: CSCO), (NYSE: JCI), (NYSE: JNPR), (TSE: SW.TO), (NASDAQ: SWIR), (NASDAQ: TXN)

Investment in the fast-growing market for Internet-connected devices gathered pace this year and is set to attract more top U.S. technology and telecoms buyers of firms active in the market, a report from a merger advisory firm said on Thursday. Corporate finance adviser Hampleton Partners' report said that $9.4 billion has been spent in the past three years to acquire so-called "Internet of Things" suppliers, with $5 billion, or more than half of the total, in the first nine months of 2014.The report, which studied more than 100 transactions in the category, said that early consolidation has been led by Google but also included Cisco Systems, Samsung Electronics, Vodafone and Verizon.Hampleton predicted that likely new acquirers in the coming year could include Intel, AT&T, Johnson Controls , Texas Instruments and Juniper Networks , which it said are under pressure to compete in the market. Other buyers to watch include Sierra Wireless and Telit Wireless Solutions.Further fueling investment are venture capitalists that have pumped more than $1 billion into start-ups in the sector over the past year.

Cisco Systems, Inc. (Cisco) designs, manufactures, and sells Internet protocol (IP)-based networking and other products related to the communications and information technology (IT) industry and provide services associated with these products and their use. Shares of CSCO traded higher by 0.53% or $0.145/share to $27.42. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $20.22 and as high as $27.46. On average, 27485800 shares of CSCO exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 19466244.

Johnson Controls, Inc. (Johnson Controls) manufactures, installs and services automatic temperature regulation systems for buildings. Shares of JCI fell by 0.76% or $-0.38/share to $49.89. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $38.60 and as high as $52.50. On average, 3642550 shares of JCI exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 4476167.

Juniper Networks, Inc. (Juniper Networks) designs, develops, and sells products and services that together provide its customers with network infrastructure. Shares of JNPR fell by 0.27% or $-0.06/share to $22.20. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $18.41 and as high as $28.75.
