CORRECTED-Alcoa to curtail 443,000 metric tons refining capacity in Suriname, (NYQ: AA)

Aluminum maker Alcoa Inc said it would curtail 443,000 metric tons per year of alumina refining capacity at its Suralco facility in Suriname.Alcoa and the South American country's government have also agreed that a state-owned entity will purchase the Suralco operations, the company said on Tuesday.The company's shares were down 1.5 percent at $13.09 on the New York Stock Exchange in afternoon trading.Alcoa said it expects to complete the curtailment by April 30, and reach a deal with the government there by July 1.

Alcoa Inc. (Alcoa) is engaged in lightweight metals engineering and manufacturing. Shares of AA fell by 1.73% or $-0.23/share to $13.06. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $11.72 and as high as $17.75. On average, 20940600 shares of AA exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 29041246.
