It was discovered today that The Student Loan Corp will be acquired from Citigroup by Discover Financial Services. Discover will receive $4.2B of private student loads and assets at an 8.5% discount, including $3.4B of asset-backed debt funding.
Discover Financial is flat on the news, whereas Student Loan Corp is trading 41% higher on the deal.
