Shares of Fortune Brands were flat for most of the trading day Friday until around 2:30pm when there was a surge of volume and quick rise in share price. The shares rocketed 4% higher in a matter of minutes. The move on extremely high volume suggests that there may be some sort of deal in talks that has not been made public. Rumors have been circulating on Wall Street that the company may get taken over.
Fortune Brands manufactures and produces distilled spirits, home and security products, and golf products.
