Chinese telecom equipment firm Huawei Technologies Co's [HWT.UL] $2 million acquisition of U.S. firm 3Leaf Systems is being formally reviewed by a U.S. government committee, the Wall Street Journal said. A negative verdict by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) could undo Huawei's deal for server technology firm 3Leaf, which the Chinese telecom gear maker completed in May, according to the Journal which cited people familiar with the matter. The scrutiny by the U.S. government committee over such a small transaction underscores the security concerns about Huawei, the paper said. Huawei, the world's No.3 seller of telecom network equipment, has been pushing hard for U.S. market expansion, but security concerns have limited its ability to win deals.
