Canadian specialty fertilizer maker Migao Corp (MGO.TO) said production has started at a potassium nitrate joint venture with Chile's Soquimich (SQM) (SQM_pb.SN) (SQMa.SN) (SQM.N) in Sichuan, China. The 40,000 tonne per year production capacity from the JV is in addition to Migao's 80,000 tonne per year capacity at its wholly owned Sichuan facility, Migao said in a statement. Migao and SQM, among the world top iodine producers, will hold equal stakes in the venture which will distribute exports of potassium nitrate produced by Migao or the JV.
