AS Roma says DiBenedetto made most competitive bid, (ASR), (CRDI)

The owner of Italian soccer club AS Roma (ASR.MI), on the lookout for a buyer, said on Thursday an offer by U.S.-based DiBenedetto was the most competitive of the five bids it received. Creditor bank UniCredit (CRDI.MI) has been working with owner Italpetroli for months in an effort to put the club up for sale and wipe out large debts. It kicked off the sale in September. Sports media said last week Thomas Di Benedetto, a partner in New England Sports Ventures, had been leading a group of investors to try and purchase AS Roma.
