Hedge fund Casablanca Capital nominated three directors to the board of Mentor Graphics Corp (MENT.O), in which it holds a 5.5 percent stake, to step up a proxy battle against the software maker. The nomination comes days after billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who holds a 14.7 percent stake in the company, presented his own slate of nominees to Mentor's board ahead of an annual shareholder meeting scheduled for May.
