DaVita Inc (DVA.N), the biggest U.S. dialysis clinics operator, said it will buy privately held peer DSI Renal for about $690 million to expand its reach, as the industry grapples with policy changes to Medicare reimbursement. Shares of DaVita touched a new 52-week high of $78.28 before paring some gains to trade up 2.4 percent at $76.65. "This seems to be a good acquisition for DaVita ... it had some cash in hand to expand its footprint across the United States," Avondale Partners analyst Brian Williams said.
