Isuzu to roll out trucks in India - Nikkei

Isuzu Motors Ltd will begin producing heavy-duty trucks in India from April, to make further inroads into the country's booming market, the Nikkei reported. The automaker's joint venture with Sumitomo Corp and local firms-- SML Isuzu Ltd-- will make trucks with 12-ton payloads while engines and transmissions and other parts will be imported from Japan for local assembly, the business daily reported. Isuzu sees annual sales of around 1,000 units, the Nikkei said. The company is accelerating operations in other emerging markets, and plans to build a plant next year in Saudi Arabia, which will produce 500-600 medium-duty trucks in the first year, it said.
