Private equity firm Apollo Global APO.N, which is readying an initial public offering on Tuesday, has seen mixed results from IPOs of its portfolio companies. (For the IPO View on Apollo's IPO, see [ID:nN27282211]) With the recession weighing heavily on private equity firms, one of Apollo's portfolio firms -- struggling casino operator Harrah's Entertainment Inc, now known as Caesars Entertainment Corp -- canceled its IPO in November, citing difficult market conditions. [ID:nSGE6AI0HF] Among the portfolio companies Apollo has on tap for IPOs is theater operator AMC Entertainment Inc, which filed in July to raise up to $450 million in its second IPO attempt. AMC first filed for a $500 million IPO in September 2007 but scrapped the plan a year later.
