Seven companies have been shortlisted to buy Poland's No. 2 mobile telecom firm Polkomtel, daily Rzeczpospolita said on Saturday. According to the daily, the list includes Swedish TeliaSonera (TLSN.ST), Norway's Telenor (TEL.OL), four private equity fund consortia led by Blackstone Group, KKR, Prudential and Bain Capital, as well as Polish media mogul Zygmunt Solorz-Zak. Polkomtel, Poland's second biggest by revenues mobile operator, is now owned by Britain's Vodafone (VOD.L) and Polish companies PGE (PGEP.WA), KGHM (KGHM.WA), PKN PKNA.WA and Weglokoks. PGE chief executive Tomasz Zadroga said earlier the transaction could be finalised in the second quarter and may be worth close to 16 billion zlotys ($5.6 billion).
