U.S. natural gas producer and pipeline company El Paso Corp (EP.N) plans to develop its interests in Texas's Eagle Ford shale oil field without a partner, the company said on Wednesday. "While interest in our Eagle Ford shale position was high, we believe that we will create greater value for shareholders by developing it ourselves," said Brent Smolik, president of El Paso's exploration and production company. A handful of deals have been struck recently with larger energy companies interested in developing North American shale fields, as smaller players hedge their risks.
