Iconix buys rights to Ed Hardy Brand for $55 million

Iconix Brand Group Inc acquired the worldwide rights to American tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy's brand from Nervous Tattoo for $55 million. Separately, Iconix reported better-than-expected quarterly results driven by strength across its brand portfolio and raised its full-year expectations to reflect the Ed Hardy acquisition. On a pro-forma basis, Iconix estimates that the Ed Hardy brand will generate total annual royalty revenue of about $15-16 million. With the deal, Iconix has increased its ownership in the Ed Hardy brand to 85 percent, while Don Ed Hardy retains 15 percent minority interest.
