Nasdaq hires investment banker Shavel as new CFO, (NASDAQ: NDAQ), (NYSE: NYX), (NYSE: BAC), (NYSE: ICE)

Nasdaq OMX Group Inc (NDAQ.O), which is pursuing an unsolicited bid for rival NYSE Euronext (NYX.N), named a Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAC.N) investment banker as its new chief financial officer. Lee Shavel, an 18-year veteran of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will also be executive vice president of corporate strategy. Earlier this year, Adena Friedman left the CFO post to join private equity firm Carlyle Group. Friedman played a key role in Nasdaq deals. Shavel, who will start in the role on May 23, joins as Nasdaq along with IntercontinentalExchange Inc (ICE.N) is trying to wrest away NYSE Euronext from a deal with Deutsche Boerse (DB1Gn.DE).
