The admission of liability by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp (NWSA.O) in a widespread phone hacking scandal will not affect the British government's decision on whether to allow his takeover of pay-TV group BSkyB (BSY.L). "The two issues aren't connected," a spokesman for the Department of Media said on Friday. "The issue with BSkyB is simply about media plurality." Murdoch's News Corp, which owns the News of the World tabloid at the centre of the hacking scandal, is set to be given the green light by the government to take full control of BSkyB in the next few weeks.
