An unsolicited takeover bid by Nasdaq OMX Group (NDAQ.O) and IntercontinentalExchange Inc (ICE.N) for NYSE Euronext (NYX.N) would break up NYSE Euronext and most likely cut jobs at its Paris operations, its European chief said in a newspaper interview. "The Nasdaq and ICE project would dismantle NYSE Euronext. Derivatives would go to ICE while Nasdaq would take on the cash business," Dominique Cerutti told French daily Le Figaro. "This would mean that Paris-listed derivatives, commodities contracts such as milling wheat and rapeseed, would most likely move to London on the ICE's platform," he added. Meanwhile Nasdaq would move Euronext's markets onto its OMX technology, which would mean additional costs to the exchange's customers and would hit jobs in Paris where half of the 400 staff work on developing technology for the exchange, he said. Nasdaq and ICE said on Monday that they will take their offer straight to NYSE Euronext's shareholders.
