REFILE-KBC hires advisers for Polish assets sale, (KBC), (NYSE: GS), (BKRE)

Belgian financial group KBC (KBC.BR) has hired Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and Merrill Lynch to explore a possible sale of its Polish units Kredyt Bank (BKRE.WA) and insurer Warta later this year, two sources said. "Both Goldman and Merrill were hired for a possible sale of Kredyt Bank and Warta," one person familiar with the plans said on Thursday. "The transaction would take place in the autumn." The comments were confirmed by another source familiar with the plans.KBC agreed with the European Commission in 2009 to divest several assets after receiving 7 billion euros ($10 billion) of state aid during the financial crisis. The plan, however, did not include the sale of KBC's main Polish assets.
