Cablecom says not in talks to sell stake to Televisa, (NYSE: TV)

Mexican cable company Cablecom said on Wednesday it did not plan to sell a stake to broadcaster Televisa, contrary to a report in the Excelsior newspaper. Excelsior columnist Dario Celis reported earlier this week that Televisa (TV.N) (TLVACPO.MX) reached a deal to purchase 49 percent of Cablecom for an undisclosed amount, with an option to purchase the rest at a later date. "They are only rumors, we have not had talks with them (Televisa)," Carlos Bustamante, an executive in Cablecom's finance department, told Reuters. Televisa, the world's biggest producer of Spanish-language shows, was not available for comment. Its shares gained 0.18 percent on Wednesday after gaining more than 3 percent the previous session on the Excelsior report.

Grupo Televisa, S.A.B. is a media company. The Company operates broadcast channels in Mexico and complement its network coverage through affiliated stations. Shares of TV fell by 1.27% or $-0.2944/share to $22.90. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $17.14 and as high as $26.67. On average, 1998730 shares of TV exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 441279.
