Credit Suisse Group (CSGN.VX) has hired veteran financial services investment banker Alejandro Przygoda as co-head of its global financial institutions group, according to an internal memo obtained by Reuters on Friday. Przygoda, a long-time insurance investment banker, will join Credit Suisse from Greenhill & Co (GHL.N), where he most recently advised the U.S. Treasury Department on its analysis and disposition of its stake in American International Group Inc (AIG.N). Last month, the Treasury sold 200 million shares in AIG, which was bailed out during the financial crisis, as part of an $8.7 billion share sale. The Treasury still owns most of the insurer. As global head of insurance since 2009 at Greenhill, Przygoda also advised on a number of other deals, including advising Wesco Financial Corp's special committee on its sale to Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N), and on Travelers' (TRV.N) purchase of a stake in Brazilian insurer J. Malucelli Participacoes em Seguros e Resseguros S.A.
