Earnings Results After-Hours (NASDAQ: NFLX) (NASDAQ: ACGL) (NYSE: APC) (NASDAQ: BRCM)

Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) announced their second quarter earnings today. They reported earnings of $1.26 a share on revenue of $788.6 million. Analysts expected earnings per share of $1.11 on revenue of $791.50, which means Netflix missed their revenue expectations. At this time last year Netflix had earnings per share of 80 cents with revenue of $519.82 million. Netflix is also expected to end the June quarter with between 24.9 million and 25.8 million subscribers, up from 23.6 million in their last quarter ended March.

Arch Capital Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: ACGL) announced their second quarter earnings today. They reported earnings per share of 67 cents with net income of $91.9 million, compared to $237 million in net income and $1.48 earnings per share last year. These results were better than expected as analysts expected earnings per share of 20 cents. Results were expected to be very low because of catastrophic events during the year which hurt profits. These events caused a loss of $95 million. The stock ended the day at an increase of 38 cents or 1.16% to $33.10.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC), the second largest US independent oil and natural gas producer, announced their earnings today. They reported earnings per share of $1.08 on net income of $544 million. At this time last year they reported a loss of $40 million or 8 cents a share. The results this quarter beat analyst expectations as analysts expected earnings per share of 95 cents. A big reason for the good earnings results was because of the high oil prices. Oil futures in New York averaged $102.34 a barrel during the second quarter, which is a 31% increase from the price last year. The share price has increased 92 cents or 1.11% to $83.50 during after-hours trading.

Broadcom (NASDAQ: BRCM), the chip making company, reported their second quarter earnings today. They reported earnings per share of 72 cents on revenue of $1.8 billion. These were ahead of analyst expectations as analysts were expecting revenue of $1.8 billion with earnings per share of 63 cents. For the third quarter Broadcom expects revenue of $1.9 billion to $2 billion. Shares have increased $3.40 or 10% to $38.31 in after-hours trading.
