Brazil's CSN ups stake in rival steelmaker Usiminas, (NYSE: SID)

Brazil's CSN (CSNA3.SA)(SID.N) boosted its stake in Usiminas (USIM3.SA)(USIM5.SA) in a further step toward changing the rival steelmaker's ownership structure. Sao Paulo-based CSN raised its holdings of Usiminas' common stock to 11.29 percent, and to 15.15 percent of preferred stock, the company said in a regulatory filing late on Friday.

Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) is an integrated steel producer in Brazil and Latin America. Shares of SID fell by 0.67% or $-0.06/share to $8.86. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $8.01 and as high as $18.41. On average, 5400380 shares of SID exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 7159471.
