Sara Lee coffee unit has received overtures-CEO, (NYSE: SLE)

Sara Lee Corp (SLE.N) has received overtures from parties interested in a deal with its coffee business, its chief executive said on Thursday. "We've had some incoming calls," CEO Marcel Smits said during a presentation at a conference hosted by Barclays in Boston. The presentation was broadcast over the Internet. Smits said Sara Lee, which plans to split in two during the first half of 2012, spinning off its coffee and beverage company, would be disciplined when considering any deal. Sara Lee shares were up 5 cents to $17.80 in midday trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

Sara Lee Corporation (Sara Lee) is a global manufacturer and marketer of brand-name products for consumers globally focused primarily on the meats, bakery, beverage and household products categories. Shares of SLE traded higher by 0.28% or $0.05/share to $17.80. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $13.22 and as high as $20.26. On average, 5522050 shares of SLE exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 1819204.
