DryShips open to selling drilling unit Ocean Rig - COO, (NASDAQ: DRYS), (NASDAQ: ORIG)

DryShips Inc (DRYS.O) could look at selling its majority-owned Ocean Rig (ORIG.O) oil drilling unit, and will delay an initial public offering of its tanker business, Chief Operating Officer Pankaj Khanna told Reuters on Thursday. Khanna also said DryShips had settled all lease payment issues with dry bulk vessel charterer China COSCO Holdings (1919.HK) (601919.SS) and does not mind doing business with them in the future.

DryShips Inc. (DryShips) is a holding company. The Company is engaged in the ocean transportation services of drybulk cargoes and crude oil worldwide through the ownership and operation of drybulk carrier vessels and oil tankers and offshore drilling services through the ownership and operation of ultra-deepwater drilling units. Shares of DRYS traded higher by 6.22% or $0.13/share to $2.22. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $1.75 and as high as $6.44. On average, 9503530 shares of DRYS exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 5551497.

Shares of ORIG traded higher by 1.1% or $0.16/share to $14.71. On average, 0 shares of ORIG exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 125241.
