Alamos Gold to purchase Aurizon Mines for about C$780 mln, (TSE: AGI.TO), (TSE: ARZ.TO), (AMEX: AZK)

Alamos Gold Inc said it will purchase Aurizon Mines Ltd for about C$780 million ($792.96 million) in cash and stock. Alamos's offer price of C$4.65 per share represents a premium of 36 percent to Aurizon's Friday closing price of C$3.41 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Alamos Gold Inc. is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and extraction of precious metals in Mexico and Turkey. Shares of AGI remained unchanged at $16.92. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $13.84 and as high as $21.00. On average, 215957 shares of AGI.TO exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 160014.

Aurizon Mines Ltd. (Aurizon) is a Canada-based gold producer with operations and development activities in the Abitibi region of north-western Quebec. Shares of ARZ remained unchanged at $3.41.
