Carlyle to invest in haircare product maker Vogue, (NASDAQ: CG), (NYSE: GS), (NYSE: SWY), (NYSE: TGT)

Private equity firm Carlyle Group LP said on Thursday it has agreed to acquire a strategic minority stake in privately held Vogue International, the maker of the Organix Hair Care product line. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but people familiar with the matter told Reuters a year ago that Vogue, which was marketing itself to possible buyers at the time with the help of Goldman Sachs Group Inc, could be valued at $800 million or more."Carlyle will work with Vogue's founder and Chief Executive Officer Todd Christopher and his team to continue expanding the brand and building the business globally," the Washington, D.C.-based takeover firm said a statement.Founded in 1987, Clearwater, Florida-based Vogue sells its shampoos, body washes and lotions in retailers including Walmart Stores Inc, Walgreens Co, Target Corp and Safeway Inc.Besides Organix, Vogue also owns the FX Special Effects line of hair styling and treatment products and the iWater Shower Purification System.

Shares of CG fell by 0.84% or $-0.31/share to $36.78. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $23.85 and as high as $38.13. On average, 388263 shares of CG exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 387338.

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (Goldman Sachs) is a global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals. Shares of GS fell by 1.69% or $-2.93/share to $170.75. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $137.29 and as high as $181.13. On average, 2828630 shares of GS exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 3977676.

Safeway Inc. (Safeway) is a food and drug retailer in North America. Shares of SWY fell by 1.26% or $-0.4/share to $31.28. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $18.97 and as high as $36.90. On average, 3864220 shares of SWY exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 2011898.

Target Corporation sells a range of assortment of general merchandise and food in its stores. Shares of TGT fell by 0.56% or $-0.33/share to $58.65. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $58.75 and as high as $73.50. On average, 5853900 shares of TGT exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 7029943.
