Yamana Gold Inc said on Tuesday it had a net loss in the first quarter on the back of weaker gold, silver and copper prices, lower metal sales and higher sale costs.The Canadian-based gold miner reported a net loss of $29.6 million, or a loss of 4 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with net earnings of $102.1 million, or 14 cents a share, a year earlier.Excluding one-time items, Yamana earned $12.1 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with $116.1 million, or 16 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue declined to $353.9 million from $534.9 million.Analysts, on average, had expected earnings of 5 cents a share on revenue of $454 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
