Freeport to purchase Apache assets in Gulf of Mexico, (NYSE: FCX)

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc said on Thursday its oil and gas subsidiary has agreed to purchase $1.4 billion of Apache Corp's assets in the Gulf of Mexico. Freeport announced a separate deal on Wednesday to sell assets in the Eagle Ford shale field in Texas to Encana Corp for $3.1 billion.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX) is an international mining company. Shares of FCX traded higher by 0.44% or $0.15/share to $33.99. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $26.37 and as high as $38.09. On average, 10253000 shares of FCX exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 7325108.
