Samsung Electronics to sell fibre optics business to Corning, (NASDAQ: AAPL), (NYSE: GLW)

South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Tuesday that it will sell its fibre optics business to U.S. glass panel supplier Corning Inc , without disclosing terms of the sale. The sale will include Samsung Electronics' production facilities for the establishment in China and South Korea, the company's spokeswoman said. She failed to comment on details of the sale, including the price.Corning supplies glass for smartphones made by Samsung Electronics and rival Apple Inc.

Apple Inc. (Apple) designs, manufactures and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players, and a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications. Shares of AAPL fell by 3.25% or $-3.86/share to $115.07. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $70.51 and as high as $119.75. On average, 59248600 shares of AAPL exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 83814040.

Corning Incorporated (Corning), is a global, technology-based corporation. Shares of GLW fell by 0.52% or $-0.11/share to $20.91. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $16.55 and as high as $22.37. On average, 7955050 shares of GLW exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 5494016.
