Bank of Montreal's first-quarter profit jumped more than seven-fold, helped by strength across all its operating groups, Canada's fourth-largest lender said on Tuesday. The bank earned C$776 million ($798.6 million), or C$1.30 a share, in the fiscal first quarter ended Jan. 31. That compared with a profit of C$119 million, or 18 Canadian cents a share, in the year-before period. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S had expected, on average, a profit of C$1.31 a share.
