EU bugs SC Johnson about Sara Lee insecticide deal, (NYSE: SLE)

S.C. Johnson & Son Inc [JNSON.UL] still expects to buy Sara Lee Corp's (SLE.N) insecticide business, even after European Union regulators issued a statement of objection about the acquisition. S.C. Johnson, the privately held maker of household products such as Raid bug sprays, said on Friday that it is beginning to analyze the details of the European Commission's statement. A source told Reuters that S.C. Johnson only offered to sell two brands with overlaps in some markets, but the EU antitrust regulator rejected it as not sufficient. "We remain confident that the transaction will be completed, though on a delayed basis," Christopher Beard, S.C. Johnson's director of public affairs, said in a statement.
