Deals of the day -- mergers and acquisitions, (NYSE: XOM)

The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 1415 GMT on Thursday: ** South African drug maker Adcock Ingram said it received some unsolicited offers from potential suitors, but none of them have trumped a $1.3 billion takeover offer from Chile's CFR Pharmaceuticals.** Energy majors Exxon Mobil Corp and Royal Dutch Shell are among the suitors advancing to the next round of bidding for Newfield Exploration Co's Malaysian and Chinese oil and gas fields valued at about $1.2 billion, people familiar with the matter said.

Exxon Mobil Corporation (Exxon Mobil) is a manufacturer and marketer of commodity petrochemicals, including olefins, aromatics, polyethylene and polypropylene plastics and a range of specialty products. Shares of XOM fell by 0.66% or $-0.59/share to $88.36. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $84.70 and as high as $95.49. On average, 12682800 shares of XOM exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 1839446.
