United Airlines in talks to purchase new narrow-body planes -Bloomberg, (NYSE: ERJ), (NYSE: UAL)

Chicago-based United Airlines is in talks with Embraer SA and Bombardier Inc to purchase new narrow-body planes, Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the matter. The discussions involve the largest models in Embraer's updated E-Jets family and Bombardier's smallest CSeries, according to Bloomberg.United is not giving details regarding its fleet strategy, which includes assessing new and used planes, Bloomberg reported citing a spokeswoman for parent United Continental Holdings Inc .The company is talking to all the manufacturers, Bloomberg reported citing Megan McCarthy, a spokeswoman for United Continental Holdings.United Airlines, Embraer and Bombardier could not immediately be reached for comment.

Embraer SA is a Brazil-based holding company primarily engaged in the manufacture of aircrafts. Shares of ERJ fell by 0.23% or $-0.09/share to $38.33. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $29.17 and as high as $40.52. On average, 1004230 shares of ERJ exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 695577.

United Continental Holdings, Inc. (UAL) is a holding company and its principal, wholly owned subsidiaries are United Air Lines, Inc. Shares of UAL fell by 1.99% or $-1.1/share to $54.11. In the past year, the shares have traded as low as $33.61 and as high as $56.90. On average, 6315040 shares of UAL exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 3868097.
