The head of the U.S. futures regulator said on Tuesday it was "not appropriate" to comment on a deal between NYSE Euronext (NYX.N) and Deutsche Boerse AG DBIGn.DE to form a global exchange operator. Gary Gensler, the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the agency would look at any regulatory filings that might come in from the proposed merger. "To the extent we might have any regulatory role, it wouldn't be appropriate to comment," he said. (Reporting by Christopher Doering, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
